“Postkaart in Super 8” is gericht naar een tiental kinderen tussen 8 en 12 jaar met verschillende culturele en sociale achtergronden, wonende in de Kaaien-wijk in het centrum van Brussel. Elke woensdag, gedurende het schooljaar, komt de groep samen en leren ze werken met een Super 8 camera met als einddoel een film te maken over de geschiedenis en het geheugen van hun buurt.

Het project wordt uitgevoerd in het Frans en in het Nederlands en staat open voor de culturele en linguïstische rijkdommen die de kinderen met zich meedragen. Met deze interculturele en participatieve benadering zal elk kind centraal staan in het denkproces en een actieve rol spelen in dit collectief project.

De kinderen worden de actoren van een artistiek avontuur in het hartje van hun wijk. Elke week gaan ze op verkenning binnen hun buurt en komen zo meer te weten over niet alleen hun buurt en haar geschiedenis door hen in contact te brengen met de verschillende culturele instellingen die ze doorgaans niet kennen, maar ook met de andere bewoners die ze elke dag passeren, en die bijvoorbeeld deel kunnen uitmaken van hun film. Wekelijks krijgen ze verschillende aspecten aangeleerd over het maken van een film in Super 8; van het filmen en het maken van een soundtrack tot het ontwikkelen van film en het organiseren van de finale projectie van hun film.

De ateliers vinden plaats onder begeleiding van Rébecca Fruitman, filmmaakster en pedagoge, wonend en werkend in Brussel en mede-oprichtster van LaboBine, een ontwikkelings labo voor analoge film te l’ERG en Rémi Rupprecht, beeldende kunstenaar en pedagoog, wonend en werkend in Brussel met een focus op video -en performance kunst binnen zijn artistieke praktijk.

“Postkaart in Super 8” wordt mede mogelijk gemaakt in samenwerking met de vzw ‘Habitat et Rénovation’ (Project sociale cohesie – PCS), Huis voor het Kind Sint-Andries, Jeugdhuis Chicago en met de ondersteuning van de Vlaamse Gemeenschapscommissie (VGC) en Brussel Hoofdstedelijk Gewest in het kader van de promotie van imago (Brussel).

“Carte postale en super 8” est un projet socio-artistique à destination d’un groupe de 10 enfants âgés de 7 à 12 ans, venant de différents horizons culturels et sociaux, et habitant dans le quartier Les Quais, dans le centre de Bruxelles. Chaque mercredi après-midi durant l’année scolaire, ce groupe d’enfants apprend à filmer avec une caméra super 8 afin de réaliser un film commun sur l’histoire et la mémoire de leur quartier.

L’atelier est mené en français et en néerlandais, fidèlement à la richesse culturelle et linguistique dont les enfants sont porteurs. Dans une approche inter-culturelle et participative, chaque enfant est placé au centre de la réflexion.

Les enfants deviennent les acteurs d’une aventure artistique au cœur de leur quartier. Chaque semaine, les enfants en découvrent davantage sur leur quartier et son histoire en entrant en contact avec les différentes institutions culturelles qui s’y trouvent, mais aussi avec les résidents qu’ils croisent chaque jour. Chaque semaine, ils apprennent les étapes nécessaires à la réalisation d’un film en Super 8 allant du tournage à la projection en passant par la bande sonore, le développement de la pellicule …

Les ateliers sont accompagnés de Rébecca Fruitman, cinéaste et pédagogue, qui vit et travaille à Bruxelles et est co-fondatrice de LaboBine, un laboratoire de développement de films à l’ERG et Rémi Rupprecht, artiste plasticien et pédagogue, qui vit et travaille à Bruxelles et qui porte un accent particulier sur la vidéo et la performance au sein de sa pratique artistique.

“Carte postale en Super 8” est rendu possible grâce à la collaboration de l’asbl ‘Habitat et Rénovation’ (projet de cohésion sociale), la Maison des enfants Saint-André, la Maison des jeunes Chicago et reçoit le soutien de la Commission Communautaire Flamande (VGC) et de la Région de Bruxelles-Capitale dans le cadre de la promotion de l’image de Bruxelles.

“Postcard in super 8” is a socio-artistic project aimed at a group of about 10 children between 8 and 12 years old with different cultural and social backgrounds, living in the Quays District in the center of Brussels. Every Wednesday afternoon during the school year, the same group of children will learn to film with a Super 8 camera with the ultimate goal of making a film about the history and memory of their neighborhood.

The project is executed in French and in Dutch and is open to the cultural and linguistic background that the children carry with them. With this intercultural and participative approach, every child will be at the heart of the thinking process and playing an active role in this collective project.

The children become the actors of an artistic adventure in the heart of their neighborhood. Every week they will go exploring and will learn more about not only their neighborhood and its history by bringing them into contact with the different cultural institutions that they usually do not know, but also with the other residents who pass them every day, and who can, for example, participate in their movie. Every week they are taught different aspects in the making of a movie in Super 8; from filming and making a soundtrack to develop pellicle and organize the final projection of their film.

The workshops take place under the supervision of Rébecca Fruitman, filmmaker and pedagogue, living and working in Brussels and co-founder of LaboBine, a development lab for analogue film at l’ERG and Rémi Rupprecht, visual artist and pedagogue, living and working in Brussels with a focus on video and performance art within his artistic practice.
